Conference Theme of GhentMUN 2018

GhentMUN 2018 took place within the framework of the ‘sustainable development goals’ (SDG’s). These seventeen goals came into force on January first 2016 and are aspired to be achieved in 2030. The general mission of these goals is to create action to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change all over the world.

These seventeen goals are based on the former UN Millennium goals, which ended in the year of 2015. The SDG’s aim to be more ambitious than the former millennium goals and moreover: they try to include every country worldwide. This universal call for action is part of the idea to make the SDG’s a universal success, without leaving anyone behind.

Five of these seventeen goals were linked to each one of our committees. The incorporation of these current issues took the simulation to another level and really challenged delegates to tackle the problems of today.
